Some people make reeds, and I want 2 learn how 2 do it. If U know, please tell me.

Best to have your oboe teacher show you how to make reeds.
The following web page will give you an idea of what`s involved, but it`s not detailed enough for you to use to make reeds.

Also, there are books and videos. The Reed Maker`s Manual & Video by Capps & Weber are excellent.

I think that most of the people here are students...
And [most] young students do not know how to make reeds, therefore... we buy them either from a musical company ot from our tutor.
Reed making? Complicated.
Reed making isn`t cheap... you`d have to buy the instruments, the materials, and time is one thing you must have.
I just suggest that you buy them for now, unless you are willing to put several hours to create a perfect reed. And even if you do create a perfect reed, it`ll only stay perfect for a couple days.

Reed makin is a pain in the butt......especially once you start picking cane out for gouging and you end up looking at 8 tubes and they don`t work............stupid arundo donax......

If you are ready to learn reed making I assume you also have a private oboe instructor. If you aren`t taking private lessons yet I advise you to first find a teacher. You can learn from my site, but you still need someone to watch over your reed making attempts.
