why would anyone make fun of oboe? i personally like oboe and bassoon(even though i dont play them , i play saxophone)

what`s so bad about the hobo joke?

u can make fun of other instruments too. cornets are corny and horns are horny. or F*CKED HORNS lol.

Hehe in Italy we don`t have the "hobo" word, oboe hasn`t assonance with particular words so we`re safe here everybody likes oboe (even if nobody plays it!), it`s the most important instruments in orchestra, and also violins are envious.
The worst instruments are considered horns because even in the biggest orchestra they always make at least one mistake haha... and in Italy if you have "corna" (bullhorns, in italian it sounds just like "horns") means that your partner has sex with another guy

In Dutch `hobo` means oboe

because they think it`s funny.....i hate the stupid clarinets and i tell them straight 2 their faces!just cuz they r ignorant butts about the oboe doesnt mean we (the most important instrument)have 2 take it!

We [oboes/double reeds] have more opportunities than single reeds do.

Oboe and bassoon players rare, and that makes us 100X more special than the clarinets.
Clarinets, flutes, sax, etc. are so popular these days, the other players are out of a job or spot!

people know about more than drums, and electric guitars:-)!
but people who have nothing to do always have struggles to differ the clarinet and the oboe. I also-of course- like the sound of the oboe more, than the clarinet. i can`t stand this boring sound. i just know about 2 or 3 solos of the symphonic orchestra which are cool, but simply every oboe solo is great(beethoven symphonys!!!)

Well I`m a clarinet for marching and jazz band but I`m switching to oboe for concert! I`m so excited, but even though I`m new to it the oboe rocks! Even though I still dearly love my clarinet, DON`T DISS IT! Let`s just say woodwinds kick brASS!

trumpets are too high
baritones sound like farts
franch horns are wierd
trombones look sick (theres too many)
tubas are ehh

I played all the way through school and never liked it. I always wanted to play oboe because I think they sound beautiful. My parents couldn`t afford to buy me an oboe and the schools I went too didn`t have any for people to play which sucks. Why are there always so many clarinets? My second favorite instrument was the bassoon. yeah, I know, wierd
