I wanted to see if NE1 else here colors the cork on thier oboe reeds. If you don`t, and UR not doing NEthing special with it(and even if U R) U should. They look sooooo pretty after a little designing. If you want a realy cool one, try the tye-die one. To do this, get 2 markers. color the oboe reed cork with one marker. Wait like 2 seconds, and then color it with the other marker. Don`t worry about mixing the colors, it will make it look cool anyway. Then just wait until it dries, and wa-la!!! A designer oboe reed cork!!!

Tell me if you like my design, think I`m crazy, think this is cool, and so forth.

Thank you!!!

What type of markers are you supposed to use?
Would Permanet markers work...washable...regular crayola?
What..?

any marker is fine. For the tie-die, I use washable marker, but you should do it on a reed that you don`t have to push it in all the way. Actually, you could, but the marker will smear all over the place

hmm.. what about colouring your actual reed in school colours? that`d be interesting... w/ non-toxic markers of course... haha your mouth would be like so coloured after playing and the reed would have no more marker on it.. haha...

Just a question, no hard feelings.

Why would you want to color your reeds?

Depending on the oboist, the time that the reed is useable, it`ll be a non-working reed.

Plus, what if the dyes `accidently` get on the cane and you have to play your oboe the same day?

It wont get to the cane.
