The sound doesn`t come out naturally when I play forked F... and usually have to put more force when playing it. The tone is totally different from the regular F. Is it supposed to be like that? I`m playing a Yamaha YOB-241.

The YOB-241 is a simplified conservatory system oboe, and doesn`t have the F resonance key needed to make the forked F fingering sound like the other F fingerings.

When playing forked F you should also hold down either right or left hand D#/Eb as well.

It is supposed to sound somewhat different. I usually try to avoid it and either use the Left hand or the regular as much as possible because it sounds more "purer" or better.

We all know that there a different models of oboes.
And we also know that no 2 oboists are the same.
It`s been a while since I switched from a beginner/student oboe, and ever since I used regular F or left.
Keep the work up, you`ll do great.
