hi, i`ll buy a new instrument soon.
its gonna be yamaha yob432 or 832. 832 i hope:-)
i have to decide now for semi or full automatic,...
up to now i played full
the prices is not an argument cause i don`t pay it myself!
please add to your statement if u are professoinal or semi-pro(:-)) cause this i very important for me.

I would go for half-automatic model,reasons r very simple: less ajustment problems , more flexible upper register,possibility to play overtones(for contemporary music),better tuning.I hope this is enough...
I am pro oboist,I also played a full automatic for the first 7 years,but swich to the half for the same reasons mentioned above,hope this helps

semi-automatic all the way. I fully second everything being said about less mechanic maintenance and a more flexible upper register. The latter is especially important if you plan to do contemoprary music.
