Does anyone know anything about cost for an oboe overhaul. I`ve got two old (but beatiful) oboes that are unplayable at the moment.

Thanks

Doesn`t everyone get angry when you screw up the tip of a reed your working on and you`ve spent hours on it?

You can play an oboe while riding in a helicopter, but nobody will hear you. Turbulence however causes reed damage. If you are thinking of doing this, bring extra reeds and know where the first aid kit is for your mouth.

Cheeky, you need help. After the immediate first aid and attention, if the reed has injured your mouth, you would probably not be able to play your oboe for awhile. But you can still listen to various CD`s and drills to keep in the proper frame of mind. Also, see if there is a site www.whywouldanybodyplayanoboeinahelicopter.com. If you insist on flying with instruments, perhaps a simple recorder would be the safest. Surely, you will agree. Hope you try it. All the best!

Are oboe players naturally gifted, or does it take practice?

Hah, reptilian I caught you with your easy-over egg on the turtle topic! Oboe players are frequently naturally gifted, almost always, but must practice to extract and develop their talent. Everybody knows that practice is essential. Those that disagree are fooling themselves, and may be conceited rotten eggs.
