I think people should excersise extreme caution when purchasing an oboe from ebay. The prices may look very tempting, but the condition of the instrument, intonation, bore condition and the subsequent longevity of the instrument are all factors that cannot be qualified by photos and the sellers comments. If you are a serious oboe player I would strongly urge that you purchase from a reputable source, where you have a choice of multiple instruments and more importantly you can play each one if you so desire. There is nothing worse that buying "sound unplayed" as it is and find that the oboe you bought from ebay for a sweet song turned out to be a sour warble.

yes, that would suck ... which for one thing is why you should know what you are looking for already before you look at ebay. You can get very good instruments though; I got a very nice one off of ebay ... I tried it out and all when I got it to make sure it was good ... it was awesome is what it is. We had the chance to send it back if we wanted to which is also something you need to be sure of. But you can`t caution someone too much about anything ... because there really are nice instruments on ebay - but I`m not saying there aren`t complete lemons there as well.
