I want to know how to keep my mouth still while playing. How do I know where to put my mouth? I have been "trying" to play the oboe and I can play a few notes but I really don`t have a fingering chart. Where is a good place to get a fingering chart? Also, I play clarinet, flute, and piccolo. Please help me and give me lots of tips. Thanks.

Chelci

you can get a fingering chart there, and a little thing i like to show people that im teaching oboe about reed placement is, Curl your bottom lip in just a lil bit and place the tip of the reed there, then place your top lip over it. As for keeping your lips still on it, thats just a matter of practice. you`ll get used to the new embechoure. The fingerings shouldnt be too hard because they are very similar to flute finerings.

Hey Chelly! I play the clarinet flute and piccolo too! What a coincidence! and for a very good starter book for oboes and other band instruments is Essential Elements 2000 from Hal Leonard and you should be able to find them fairly easily

Thanks guys. I know all about the Essential Elements books but I can`t ever find one for the oboe when I look. Riki, Jackie(sorry if I spelled your name wrong.), maybe we can talk sometime. That`s kewl that we play the same instruments.
