CJ your a crossover from flute? Wold you reccommend switching to Oboe from flute? I really REALLY want to learn Oboe but I love flute a lot. I want to major in music so I thought it would possibly ( i don`t know) be eaiser to get into a college playing Oboe. was switching worth it?

Hey Candy! Sorry! I never made it back to the forums. I switched from flute mainly because they needed an oboe and I was tired of being 2nd flute. No glory. I would have had to work harder to make it to 1st. And funny you should mention it, I was wondering the other day if I should have switched. I was really really happy with oboe at first.... I still enjoy playing it however I always wonder how well I would have done if I had stuck to flute. Maybe I would have stayed being a blaa flute player, may be I would have jumped up to first. *shrug* Who knows. Anyway back to your quesions...I think if you`re a real killer flute player you`ll do fine majoring in it. However, oboe players seem to be scarce, so it might be easier to get into a college with oboe...provided you`re good. Whatever you do, do it with all your heart and work hard.
