Mine is Alex Klein. His sound is incredible, and I love the ornamentations he does.

Its really sad that he had to retire.

Anyways, I`m interested in other people`s response.

Jacques Tys (I knew him!), Holliger, and the italian Francesco Di Rosa (www.francescodirosa.com)... there are a lot of oboists I like anyway... don`t know any USA oboist! My fault...

It`s good to see a lot of variation here, especially here in America we "detest" any sound resembling a European`s.

My favorites are Heinz-Holliger, Alex Klein, and Malcolm Messiter.

Also continuing who I like.....I like Richard Woodhams, John De Lancie, Marc Lifschey, Peter Bowman, Evelyn Rothwell, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Marcel Tabuteau (despite the bad recording equipment they had back in the 50`s)

I think that there is a sort of "war" between European and American oboe students :D we often find your sound terrifying and I think it`s the same over there. But I think we both have very good oboe players!

Richard Woodhams, Laura Griffiths, Alex Klein, John De Lancie and Eugene Izotov. Ferrillo in MET recordings is amazing as well.
