Have heard that the Loréefactory had a downperiod about 1990-1995 and didn´t make very good instrument at that time, but that the quality has improved since then. Anyone know anything about this or have experiences to share? Myself playing a Royal from -92 and I find it excellent.

Yeah I heard that too from my teacher. Yeah during the time period I think the Oboes weren`t completely up there. But that doesn`t mean all of them were bad. You probably got lucky that`s what my teachers always says about my Oboe which is a 2001 model OM66. My teacher is a Yamaha user.

I have also heard the same thing. I think now people accept this as the modern gospel of oboe and have branded all Loree oboes as horrible instruments. When I finally purchased my AK I played about ten Loree`s and found each one to be quite nice. What made me choose this AK was just a certain something that I find difficult to express in words. People have played a couple of instruments that they find bad and all Lorees are bad. I have played a couple of Yamahas and thought they were heinous; but my past experience with those instruments will not keep me from trying others in the future.
