I use a Dunkel reed. They are wonderful. Beautiful sound. I used to use Jones in highschool when my parents bought them for me, but there is no comparison. Jones are to bright and honky, don`t allow you to control the sound as well.

well .. yes, Jones aren`t the best reeds out there, but they are MUCH better than some other brands you could get. Incidentally, Rico reeds are not ones that you want to play the oboe with. cheers!

Aside from your spelling problems....(double check your: their, they`re, and there; it will be good to know in the future).

Rico`s are fine if you are a raw beginner, but if you are more serious than that, I would hope you would move beyond that brand. I am pretty happy with Albion (Silver) from Forrest`s Music.

I personally have my oboe instructor make me my reeds. She can adjust them anyway to better suit my playing. Also machine made reeds are much more difficult to adjust such as shaving the end so there is less cane

I`m not sure how to spell it, since I`ve never read the name, but I use Martin Lesher reeds. I am pretty sure they`re handmade, but not totally. I don`t really know what`s better, but, since I`m in normal band, I like them since they last months and months.

I use Singin` Dog Reeds. My instructor bought me one once and it was great, you can go to their website at singindog.com, they`re specialists in double reeds.
