I`m 13 and I play the flute at the moment. I have wanted to start the Oboe for a while now and my mum and dad have agreed I can. I will be taking lessons in school but I need some advice and information before I decided I definetly want to start. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I`m 13 and i have been playing the Oboe for about 2 years, one thing you need to KNOW is...if you can`t handle alot of head presure, like if you get headaches real easaly like me but you need to be able to handle alot of presure going to your head at once. and cheek muscles, but you will get used to all of it

The fingerings are almost the same as for the flute...same key. If you are looking forward to going to university, you may get some good scholarship offers if you play the oboe as well as the flute. Everyone plays the flute, but if you play the oboe, especially if you have your own oboe, you are much in demand. One of my friends got a full scholarship because she played the oboe. If you have more questions, email me. I started playing the oboe at about age 16, but you can do it at your age. Much luck! Eileen
