I`ve tried LaVoz and Jones reeds so far and like them both but hear that the Marlin Lesher reeds are good. I like the LaVoz pretty well and the Jones are good too but seem a little hard to break in.

Thanks for any thoughts!

I have also heard wonderful things about the marlin lesher Pro reeds. I have not personally tried them. Right now I use Jones artist reeds they are the ones with purple string. I like them much better then the jones regular. Good luck

I did not like Marling Lesher Oboe reeds personally. But whatever floats your boat.

The one I have is awfully flat, but the Lesher reeds are softer than say, Jones.

It`s like the Rico reeds in a way.

I have an oboe customer who will ONLY purchase these Lescher Reeds.
I am a music store and I am not able to get these reeds from any of my wholesalers.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy these reeds directly!!
Thanks

I personally haven`t tried anything other than Lesher, Selmer Fibrecane, and Emerald. I`d have to say that Lesher is the best of the three: they last for extended periods with consistent tone quality, though Fibrecane last longer (duh, they`re synthetic!). I find that Emerald brand reeds produce a great tone quality if used properly, though they should only be played for about an hour a day after the break-in period. Fibrecane reeds last longest, as I believe they are suited for the beginner. The sound production isn`t great, and embouchure doesn`t have to be changed to reach higher octaves.

Clearly, my choice is Lesher!

I hope I`ve helped.

Lesher reeds are the best commercial reed available - my students play on nothing else until they learn to make their own reeds.
