I own - and play a Cabart bassoon. From what I have learned it was probably made around 60+ years ago in France. I love this bassoon and play it in 4 different concert bands and a symphony orchestra. I am considering buying a new Fox 240 but I am not sure I can part with (or stop playing) my Cabart. Does anyone have information about Cabart bassoons. Are they considered professional?

If your Cabart was made in France it's probably a French system instrument which I believe is a lot different from the Heckel system used by most makers, including Fox. You might want to check this out before changing. Or maybe you already have!

thanks for the reply. It is a Heckel system. The best that I have learned so far is that Cabart made these for a few years after WW II.
