Loan bassoon is here! I remember more than I thought I would too! Have worked myself a good way through the book I began on all those years ago and got some fairly good sounds. I need to watch my embrouchure though because when going from high to low I've had a couple of squeeks but I'm certain it was just because I was too tight on the reed.

Ahhh so good to be back though... I want to practice more and more but I've got essays to do Plus my teeny tiny hands are aching a bit (esp since I do have quite severe joint problems as it is) so I figure I need to go into it gently. A good 45 min rehearsal though... I'm very pleased!

Now does anyone know where I can find some inexpensive Bassoon 'mops' preferably pullthroughs?

*excited squeel*

lol - probably not... especially since i live in a terraced house... but im hoping to find a church or some practice rooms at uni to practice in soon lol.

But in the mean time, they can scarecly complain... they talk loudly till all hours and I can hear every word they say... soo... me playing my bassoon for an hour at lunchtime is scarcely disruptive. (I think they'd all ordinarily be out at work anyway!)

x

Howarths have some mops for the price of a couple of reeds. Is that what you meant? If you meant the type on a string, then you could make your own, e.g. by making a pom pom, attaching a string and putting a nut on the other end. Where there is a will there is a way.

Sorry I never replied last night - I never noticed that you'd emailed me because my hotmail account took the notification straight to the junk mail folder, but I've corrected that now :D
