Hello all,
I am a serious sax player and have played for several years. I would like to learn to play bassoon so that i can double effectively when i study sax in college. I just found a teacher and now need a bassoon. I was looking at one online and it is a very good price. I can`t afford to get a top of the line fox, but this one is maple and looks to be pretty good. However, i have never heard of the manufacturer "LAVAL." Has anyone heard of them? Are they any good? Thanks for the help!!

If you are going to purchase a Bassoon, I would recommend that you ask your band director about it. You can just look at a picture and say it looks good, because the way the holes are drilled makes a difference, and there are other things to. I would recommend that you take to a band director or a professional. NOT someone trying to sell things over the counter.

I would suggest getting a quality bassoon if you plan on playing it in college, even if quality=money.
