Hi all, this is my first post. I have decided to start playing bassoon again after many years and have the opportunity to buy a Bohemian Kohlert. The age is apparent and I have read good things, but I guess I am wondering if the instrument is TOO old? Also, is it worth getting repaired and does any one know much much these are worth? Thanks for any replies

These are impossible questions to answer without seeing the bassoon. It all depends on various things like - the condition of the wood; does it have all the keys you want (eg a whisper key)?; Does it play at modern pitch? There have been various standards over the years.

Good luck.

Well actually, there is one currently on Ebay I've been looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261113888922?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
There are some going for more, but some have recently sold for less. I don't think this one has a whisper key, which I would want.

And one on an antiques website: http://howbazaarantiques.com.au/home/products?item=9755&p=9

It's been a long time since I've played, so it's a little like I'm starting from scratch.
