Loius Armstrong and Duke Ellington are great if you like jazz. if you want live concerts though, look somewhere else.

My website www.atlantabrassalliance.com/trumpetlessons.html has an extensive collection of soundclips of great trumpet players, and a lot more classical stuff than trumpetstuff.com (which is a great site, but it`s mainly jazz). I also have all of my soundclips linked to amazon.com to make it easy to buy what you like.

Beside the names in parentheses are
ensembles they play/ed with and I suggest seeking them out.

Orchestral/classical:
Phil Smith (New York Philharmonic)
Adolph Herseth (Chicago Symphony)
Maurice Andre
Ronald Romm (Canadian Brass)
Karl Sievers (he really knows how to play..hit his "sounds")
Ray Mase
Mark Goulde
Hakan Hardenburger
Rolph Smedvig (Empire Brass)

Jazz -
Ray Anthony
Al Hirt
Dizzy Gillespie
Arturo Sandoval
Maynard Ferguson (look for his older stuff especially!)
Miles Davis
Louise Armstrong
Jon Faddis
Pat Harbison
Bobby Shew
Wayne Bergeron (Gordon Goodwin`s Big Phat Band)
Wynton Marsalis

Orchestras:
Chicago Symphony Orch.
New York Philharmonic
Atlanta Symphony Orch.
Cleveland Symphony
Berlin Philharmonic
London Symphony Orch.
San Francisco Symphony
Philedelphia Symphony Orch.
Israeli Philharmonic

These lists could go on forever, but this is a good base to
expound from!

Cheers!
