I recently bought a trumpet fingering chart and discovered that there were notes higher than the high G. A guess it`s because I`m just a 2nd year trumpet that I didn`t know that but is it actually possible to play these higher notes? I mean have you ever heard anyone play them?

it is possible...they are really in a way false tones but they are still notes.... all notes above high c(which is 2 leger lines above staff) you can play open or you can put down the same fingerings as you do middle c and up...0.1.0.1.0.12.2.0. simple c scale format mind you and with out half steps but yah upper staff fingerings help you slot the notes better so over all to anwser your questions yes they are real notes and yes they can be play`d with practice. :D hope this helps---linds

You`d better believe there are high notes. If you`re talking about the G above the staff, then you have at least two octaves of notes above that. That might sound crazy to you, but it has and is being done. If you`ve ever listened to a Stan Kent big band recording, you can hear some, well, insane trumpet playing. They will regularly hit notes above the super C, and will actually HIT the notes, not just cack them out by accident. It takes many years of work to get up to that point, but it can be done!
