I find that I can trill faster with some fingers than I can with others. My suggestion is to look up alternate fingerings so you only have to move 1 finger. For example, when you play a trill from g to a (normally open to 12) try playing it 0 to 3. Trust me, this will help alot. I think that most people would agree with me when I say that its easier to move 1 finger than it is to move 2 or 3 simultaneously. E-mail me orpost back if you have any more questions.

Yeah pretty much what he said but if you can use alternate fingerings for both notes, you can end up having to move just 1 finger - index preferably (i forgot an example sorry).

You are probally referring to Maynard very impressive lips trills, these are achieved using a perfect mixture of air tongue and lip, although i am only 18 i see many of the players i play with attempting to do this by slamming the horn up against their face repetitively quickly, this does not work, the only way to do this is to work hard on flexibility for example do exercises with flowing 8th notes about 140 BPM`s jumping at first from C# to F# in the low register using all three valves, if you cannot do it this fast then slow it down, then you need to have a fairly substantial range because as you ascended in the harmonic series the slots become much closer together making it much easier to slide from one to another, remember, no slamming, just tongue raising and faster air.

you need to work lip slurs until you are flexible enough to do it. you need to hold the horn very loosely on your face for maximum flexibility. it takes practice. i`ve been playing for four years and when i started learning it took me about 3 months but it usually takes people about 5 months.
