One thing to do when trying out for honor band is to not play the music at all the day of the auditions. That way you won`t be worried thinking that you could have done better.

Always have a good attitude and be polite to whoever is auditioning you.

Always try to acheive a good tone most of all. Before you audition work on lip slurs and long tones.

Just have confidence and try your best. Also try to be as prepared as possible for any questions the judge may ask you.

Mark is right. Judges often listen not only for how well you play the music but how good your tone is. Try to work on getting the best tone you can especially on the scales.

On sight reading especially try to concentrate and focus. Concentrate and do your best and you`ll do fine.

Approach the task at hand with confidence. Be in commmand of your instrument, for you are its master, not it yours. Whowever the judge(s) are probably won`t be expecting absoute perfection, but give it to them anyway.
