You need to work on your lower range to build up your upper range. Work on long tones, lip slurs, and pedal tones. Hope this helps.

The surgery and subsequent recovery period has more than likely resulted in loss of strength and flexibility in muscles that you use to play. Play scales, tonguing and slurring alternately. Find the highest note you can play with a little bit of strain and don`t try to play higher until you can hit and hold that note comfortably for 8 beats at a moderate 4/4 count. Then just gradually work your way up. When your lips begin to tire or start feeling numb, take a 20-30 minute break. While you`re resting, take several deep breaths and exhale in a way to make your lips flutter (make a sound like a horse does). That will help restore blood circulation, which you`ve been cutting off by tightening those muscles to produce your buzz. When the tiredness, tightness, or numbness goes away. Practice for a while longer, and try to lengthen your practice sessions a little every couple of days until your control and endurance returns.

why are you mad? I went to california for 2 weeks and when I came back I couldn`t hit the Eb anymore. That`s normal. Just practice and it will come back. Miles Davis took off 10 years in the 70`s and he had to start practically all over again.
