I am an advancing trumpeter who wants to get a new professional trumpet. I have pretty much narrowed it down to either a bach strad or yamaha xeno. I have heard different opinions and want to know which one is really better.Thank you.

I know that the bach strads are very good. I have heard good things about the xeno but it seems to me that yamaha is into to many other things to be a serious trumpet maker.

I hhave a xeno and can tell you that they are much more free blowing than the bach stradivarius.

Out of those two choices, id say i would have to go with the bach strad. It takes a little longer to get used to but in the end, id say u would have a better experience with it. Though this is true, you can take a look at the Jupiter Tribune series XO. Ive personally tried it and i think its in the range with the bach and xeno and for a much better price. The best thing I can say is try all three of these horns and see which one you feel the most comftarble feeling

The Xeno will blow a little more open is because it has a reverse lead pipe. The Bach has been on the market longer so has had time to build a somewhat more solid reputation. I don`t know how you went about eliminating all the other noteworthy brand names, but I would personally want to play both the Bach Strad and the Xeno before committing to buy either. When I moved up to a pro model horn I went with the Blessing ML-1S because it simply felt the best to me. It looks and plays very much like a comparable Bach, and I`m satisfied that I got very comparable quality for less than half the price. Remember that the ideal horn for one person won`t necessarily be the best for the guy in the next chair.

I narrowed it down to the xeno and strad because I have read that the blessings may be good for the price but are hard to keep in tune, the jupiters do not last long without breaking. Also the xeno and strad. were 2 of the best trumpets I tried at my towns music store. The others were schmidt, jupiter xo,and blessing ml 1s.

Also it seems to me that jupiter are not known for the best quality instruments. It is true that they have made improvements though. But I would think they are made with less care and time than the stads or xenos.

Honestly on the Jupiter thing, I think this one they have just made is a very goood horn. I see you can get that it breaks easily from its previous models but this one is the newest and best model ive ever played from them. I think its up there with the best horns and i would def consider buying it. But again like so many others said, just try it out first

I`d take the xeno out of those 2. I`m still a fan of the Getzen`s though. Xeno is my second choice out of a 900s and a xeno. If a guy had money I`d like to test the Genesis Custom and a Destino. :-D

I would personaly say the xeno because it is a very free flowing horn. I used one this past year at the corps colts and the way it play`d to me was just amazing. The sound you get out of it can be very rich but in turn if you need it to it can be a bright horn also..so in short it is a very versitle horn! Bach might have a longer standing reputation but I think if you give them time so will yamaha with their xeno series.

i tried both out and with my bach, i just liked it better, i thought it played upper register easier, and i liked the tone better. I think it`s really a matter of the musician though... try both out and see which one you like better.

I agree with bryan about getzen`s 900s or 700s (Genesis is frikkin` awesome) but it depends in which model xeno or which model strad. i like the reversed Xeno more than most bach strads other than a mode 198 or 197 strad which are great. a 197 is a new remake of a mount vernon. 198 is a limited edition strad.
try out those three and i think those will be your top three choices if you don`t want anything other than bach or xeno.

See this site

this guy actually tested out the xeno and the 900s. He said he liked them both. At first the Getzen vavles were a little stiff (mine didn`t have this problem).
I love how free-blowing my 900s is. Although mine isn`t the eterna model (which was reverted back to the original specs from the 60`s) mine came out just prior and is the 900slb (large bore) So YMMV.

I am going to buy a new trumpet soon. I need to know what would be better: a yamaha xeno w/reversed leadpipe or a silver 180 37s bach stradivarius. Please help because no one I ask can give me a strait answer and when I tried them at the store I wasn`t sure what to look for so I couldn`t decide.
