i have a bach strad model 37G and it I study with a professor that hates yamaha and i don`t blame him. they are impossible to get in tune and they wont last as long as bach strads. bach strads have the best tone u can ever get on a trumpet.

hey im also looking at xenos vs. a bach strad 37. my plan was originally to get a bach strad off of ebay, but now it seems as if the consensus here is that a Xeno is better. Especially if I am to buy one off the internet without trying it. What do you guys exactly mean by a Bach can be a "Dud". Please email asap cuz im bidding soon!! THanks guys

Bach trumpets

When Vincent Bach started building trumpets in the early 1900s, he built some horns that were absolutely fabulous and some that were mediocre. If you tried two or three, you would probably be able to find a great horn. His horns were all handmade. Then Selmer bought the Bach company and started building trumpets using his design and the same "handmade" building tehniques. What happened because of this is that the trumpets are being put together in mass quantities, by hand. They haven`t got quality control, like a computerized facility like Yamaha (which does build the professional horns by hand) and they are producing mostly junk that sells because of the name. Periodically even a new Bach can be a great horn, but these are very rare and hard to come by unless you go to a big music store and play every horn there. Then you might get lucky. For an online purchase, I highly reccomend the Yamaha Xeno or the new 9000 series custom Bb that is rumored to be coming out soon. Good luck.
