Does anyone know anything about Jerome Callet`s tougue controlled embouchure technique?
Does it actually work?

If you don`t have anything worthwhile to contribute{such as:HUH} don`t waste anyone`s time or this forums computer space with your stupid one word posts

Basically its using the tounge as an anchor for the bottom lip. I dont know much more then that however, if youre young and love to play the horn, you should pick up the book and read it. Maybe if you take it seriously enough you can talk to and have a few lessons with students of Mr. Callet or even have a lesson with him himself! Anywho either way have fun! As for one word posts its just interesting to read posts where someone will waste server space (get it right) and put quotes to say something negative. Then they dont even take the time to answer the original question. Im guessing thats what happens when open forums like this exist. LOL. By the way, real itimidating....

Yes it works. That`s actually the embouchure I used. When I read the book I realized I already did most of the stuff it talked about. In high school (10 years ago) I could easily hit a a double Eb. I started in 11th grade and my senior year I could just pick my horn and hit it without warming up. I didn`t do everything right, for one thing I can`t curl my tongue which helps you with generating the pressure needed needed to hit the *really* high notes.
After high school I stopped playing until last november when I got a new horn and started playing again. While I`m not very good, and I tend to practice more with breathing and syncopation studies now as I just don`t feel how long notes should be anymore and I actually have to count in my head. but I can already hit Eb above high C (although I do have to play a scale to get there). I imagine if the high notes were my focus I could get higher. I`d seriously recomend it as technique, but make sure your focus is on the more important stuff. Like playing in tune. ;-)
by the way any sucky players in the Seattle area want to play? I am not advancing as quickly as I want and it`s probably just because I`m not playing with anyone.

It`s more of a soft "th" than a "tu". It`s all in the book man. Check it out from a library and photocopy it, that`s what I did. It`s an expensive book.

the best explaination is by BAHB Civiletti-one of jerry`s best students
He has a book out that really explains it well. jerry has a tough time communicating the technique, but BAHB has perfected it and can communicate.
type BAHBciviletti into your browser.
it works
