hello, im looking to buy a nicer, mid-price trumpet and i want something that will not depreciate in value that i can play and improve with for years to come. i`ve had bad experiences in the past buying cheaper horns and then `outgrowing` them because they were of a low quality. i am willing to spend $1500 and buy used as well. any suggestions of specific models or places to look?

I would expect that unless you could find a custom trumpet (something that couldn`t be matched or bettered on the common retail market) for $1500 or less, you wouldn`t likley get on in that price range that`s likely to increase in value.
