Hey everyone! I`m a student looking to further my experience in jazz trumpet playing, and after reading into some special effects, I am still unfamiliar with the doit. For those that have never heard of this term, its supposed to represent the scoop up from a note after you attack it. I`m also having difficulty scooping into a note. I always seem to make it sound as if there is a grace note preceding it. Can someone explain how these effects are achieved?

press down you valves half way and then raise them slowly and lip your way up as high as you can go. or stop on the prefered note for a gliss or as you called it a scoop up to a note.
