u experienced bunch may be able to help me..lol
guess what.. I moved up to the highest band and i am also in a jazz band now. This means extra rehersal and higher notes to get,and more endurance.
Oh and improvising..
Any tips for a newbie for any of the above?
Other than regular practice, is there anything i can do to improve my range and endurance?
What can i do about impro?
I`ve heard that playing along with the radio is good ear training...

read my secrets to high notes/flexibility/endurance topic. that will help after just three or four days of practice and it also has a perfect warmup on the first page. remember that the more "open" the bottom of your range sounds the better the top will sound.

Get Jamie Abersold`s book, Volume 1 - How To Play Jazz and Improvise. You can order it online from www.jazzbooks.com. It comes with a nice demo/play along CD and has numerous exercises that will help you learn to improvise and build your range and endurance.
The price on my copy is $15.90, but I`ve had it quite a while, so chances are the price may be slightly higher by now. It`s well worth the investement.

i couldnt`t find ur article, Derek..
As for the book, my parents don`t do online purchases and my "local" which is miles awaylol music store doesnt contain much..
I`m just looking for simple things to improve my overall playing, esp endurance.
I`m exactly after a killer range in less than a week..although that would help..lol
