I`m starting college, but I still want to continue playing trumpet.

Since my college doesn`t have any bands or clubs for trumpet players, I`m looking to find FREE music programs in NYC that involve trumpets, like jazz, marching bands or something like that.

I know some private music schools in the erea but I can`t afford to pay for them, college is killing me financially lol. So if anyone knows of some Free bands or programs in the NYC erea I`ll be interested.

I would expect some of the music prof`s around your local university to know about community bands or other ensembles that are open to volunteer participation. Many churches also now have worship ensembles. Do a search of local church websites for info.

I just spent some time searching the web for what you`re looking for, and I don`t find squat in the NYC area. If opportunity to play your trumpet is important to you, you might want to consider moving to a college somewhere other than NYC.

just join a band that plays jazz. look for auditions and they will pay you. or start a small combo and play at restraunts and once some people have heard you you might get asked to join a band. it`s pretty easy really
