Why are people so dishonest about their range!?!?!? It really bugs me, bacuase new people are trying to learn what`s average and this pathetic boasting is really discouraging. Isn`t it virtually possible for an ordinary person(most of us) to go beyond a double high c?? Yet people go on about how they can hit quads..
I don`t understand. Does a quad c even exist on the instrument?

a trumpet range goes into infinity but i don`t believe that anyone has ever hit a quad c... i have range to a double c but i got that through playing a LOT and starting to play with professional bands whien i was 13(they kind of force everybody to be better at every aspect). oh and lip slurs...can`t forget them. i just wish my double was stronger... my double a is strong but i wish my c was... i`ll have to work on that.

But there is a limit to the ego in a trumpetplayer. I know somebody who-if i may say so, has none. She- yes, she, thinks that she is not very good. No confidence, yet she can play very well. What amazes me is that she can play sounding nice all the way up there- massive control.
Me on the other hand- I have a typical trumpet ego- although it is "limited"

I have to agree about the somewhat obvious less-than-honest claims that have been posted here on the high range subject. I beleive that anyone who can top Doc Severinsen, especially if less than a seasoned professional, would be an extreme rarity, and as once proven on a segment of the Tonight Show, Doc can`t nail double C (two octaves above concert Bb) without working his way up to it. So if there are so many intermediate to college level trumpeters who frequent this forum who can actually hit double C and higher, how about having some audio clips posted so we can hear what you`re talking about, and be honest that it`s YOU, and not a copied clip of Maynard Ferguson, Wayne Bergeron, etc., etc., etc. Also, bear in mind that there is a limit to how high a frequency the human ear can detect, as well as to frequencies we can comfortably listen to, which in turns makes a lot of the sreeching-high notes of no particular value.

Okay peace man. Prove it. Prove to all of us that you can do something no other trumpet player has ever done in history. The highest note ever played with enough overtones to count as a note (that means no whispering through your horn) was the G above double C. So let`s here you, because obviously you are considerably better than the best lead players of all times.

hell yeah, playing a trumpet is like having a head the size of texas. The disturbing fact is that people actually hear the note they play and think its higher than it is. Most people cannot even identify a quad C if they heard it. It just sounds like that squeak you make when you kick the gym floor with your rubber sneaker. I have heard a quad C, but that was jim manley, and that guy can hit everything its amazing. Honestly I can only play up to double F. I have been there for about a half of a year, getting to the triple A is alot of work, and I am currently satisfied with my double F, I practice mostly on technique, not range. Just remember that Range is nothing compared to triple tougning from low c to High G or at that triple tougning ANYTHING.

What the hey, guys and gals! I can hit a note so high that it is undetectable by the human ear. ...NOT!!
Actually I kinda think that somebody thinks "quad C" is three octaves above low C...below the staff, which would actually make it a double C, which is reachable by many but by few with any degree of tone quality.
