And it has been politely stated that you are practicing bravado to a rather ludicrous degree.

Warman, Very loud noises of any frequency can break glass if the sound wave packs enough energy. This is why an explosion can shatter windows. You are so blind, i doubt your ability to play 8 octives from the top, i doubt you can play 5. I can play only 3 octives from the top but my tone is my strong point, so i see you as only an ameture because you lack the important basics.

Very loud noises of any frequency can break glass if the sound wave packs enough energy. This is why an explosion can shatter windows. You are blind, and I doubt your ability to play anything more than 4 octives from the top. You said yourself that your tone sucks. I can barely play three octives from the top but I play well and with a good tone. The fact is that you are an ameature, you lack the important foundations of playing any instrument, and yes i am certified to make that conclusion playing almost every instrument you could name.

Amazing where these type of forums lead to. I still don`t understand why people are so dishonest. Nobody believes these people anyway, so if it`s to gain some sort of "respect", you`re just going in the opposite direction.

It`s not that difficult to do, really. Mythbusters proved that an unassisted human voice can break glass. Here`s what you do:

(Note: this works best with crystal)

1. Get a chromatic tuner, and hold it near the glass.

2. a) Strike the glass lightly with your fingernail; or
b) Dip your finger in water, and slowly move it around the edge of the glass. If done right, this will produce a very clear-sounding note.

3. A note should register on the tuner. This note is the fundamental frequency of the glass.

4. Now, the moment of truth. You need to produce a note identical in frequency to the fundamental frequency of the glass. How this is done is up to you*.

*The energy of the sound is measured by its amplitude (volume). A large enough amplitude of the fundamental frequency (note) must be produced in order to shatter the glass. As I said before, this has been done by an unassisted human voice. Therefore, it can most likely be done by a brass instrument such as the trumpet.

Have fun experimenting!

Or you could just yell really loud and hit it with a hammer. That usually works pretty well. Or perhaps hit it with your trumpet. If done correctly, this could cause the pipes to decrease in average diameter thus makeing the air vibrate faster when you play. You might even be able to get a better range then warman!

sometimes i wish i could talk to these people in real life, you guys cannot hit high notes that high. You guys dont realize that hitting notes like htat take years of work. And buy they way, just because you say you can hit notes higher than proffesionals it doesnt make them look like ameaturs because theres a reason why they are lead trumpets and why they have their own freaking bands. Jeesh, the people on this site, putting a bad name to trumpets.

those famous trumpets simply had good conections. Take the saxophone kenny g. for example. Teh sax community despises him, but he`s still famous and makes a ton of money. You can always find the best players in your local bars. Another example form the sax world is charlie parker. Possibly the most brilliant jazz player, including us trumpets, and he wasn`t famous till he died.

i know that, but im saying that just because you can play high it doesnt mean your better than a proffesional. Also proffesionals are preffesionals because theyve mastered theyre instrument or typ of style that no on has and not because they have good connections, but i do admit some do have, there are some

of course range isn`t everything, it`s just a "style" Take maynard fergousan for example. he just keeps em pooping out high, i`ve never heard him play a low note before. haha. He`s pretty rich. But thats the way he plays.

I can name a couple of artists who got their fame through good connections. Arturo Sandoval had Dizzy. I am pretty sure that if they didnt meet, Sandoval would either still be in Cuba playing with Irakere for Castro, in prison, dead, or in the USA playing for all sorts of club groups. There is also that Chris Botti guy, there is no way he could have had all that quick fame if it werent for his timely advertisement on like everything. I wonder how much it cost to adertise as much as he did. Plus, his "team" did a great job making sure to televise to the non-jazz community. Everyone and there mom has a copy of his cd, God knows why.... I could have seriously could have used that money for a bill Chase record or maybe stan kenton or something.....ah well.....
