embouchure problems

I have large lips. On trumpet (which although my band director taught me we never went over embouchure) I play with the rim on my lip. Not the skin above it on the actual lip itself. I have had a sneaking suspicion that this is wrong, yet I am able to play all registers fine and with tone, so I never asked this question before. Most trumpeters have thin lips so it only makes logical sense to have the rim on the skin above the lip but the mouthpice is a 1C and touches the red of my upper lip just because of the way my lips are (I don`t move the mouthpiece down on purpose). Is this wrong and if so how could I fix this as soon as possible? Please help!

Trombone and tuba might be easier, but thick lips are not an insuperable problem. You may find that the mouthpiece is set into the pink part of your lips, but that`s OK if your lips are that large: you vibrate only the parts that are in the cup.

i do the same thing and i play professionally. DO NOT CHANGE! it WILL screw you over. read what the arbans book says about embouchure. it says don`t change but try to improve with your current embouchure
