I`m wondering about the pros and cons (or perhaps all cons) of puffing out your cheeks when you play the trumpet.

Air should come from the diaphraghm directly and not stored in the cheeks. I have seen only one trumpet player puff his cheeks and that was Dizzy Gillespie. How he did, I don`t know.

DONT DO IT!!!! Unless youve learned with puffed out cheeks and you have got good tone with it it wont change any thing. in fact i find when i goof off on my trumpet with puffed out cheeks it downgrades my tone and eventually your cheeks will stretch and become unnaturaly and hideously large like dizzy gillespie. And from seeing him live let me tell ya it aint too hot.
