Maynard is just really really really really really really really good. It seems like he`s doing some different technique or something but he`s really not. I read on one of Maynards sites that he could get a double high c by his second year playing!!!!!!!! Just talent and practice is what made him play that high. plus a great eboushure(sp). not to mention the greatest breath support ever.

large people can play easier,it sucks, cause I;m not large, but it does seem to be true. doesn`t life suck... Hey, I try moving my mouthpiece a little offcenter, and I played around and I can scream up to around triple C + It is hard to control, very very hard. but It is fun and you develope the sound over time. have fun, and don`t be afraid to try new things, no matter how wierd, as long as you don`t damage your trumpet (unless you`re really rich cause then I would hate you unless you wanted to buy me a new trumpet cause mine sucks...)

wow triple c. thats great. but i just am curious, what do YOU mean by triple c. ppl talk about the higher register differently so then high triple c i`m thinking of may not be the one that you are talking about. see, in the professional world(or from what i`ve heard) high c is two lines above the staff, then you can start saying double by the Bb higher than that c. so double c would be (in my understanding) an octave above the c two lines above the staff. please post back...i`m intrigued

A really great website for Maynard is maynard.ferguson.net I suggest everyone that plays trumpet to got there and listen to the sound clips. Martin- If you want to see him check out the Tour Dates on the website. I`ve already found the concert that i`m going to. I`m so envious of you spencer. That would`ve been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!!!!!! Just a little tid bit of information...
To Dan-Maynard`s suggestion to get higher is to use more pressure. And Scott Englebright(1st trumpet of MF`s band) says to get the the mouthpiece with the flattests rim you can find, so you can use the most pressure possible.
So obviously there are differing views on whether or not to use pressure.

if you ever use a screach mouth piece, don`t apply pressure. If you do you can ruin you lips forever.
