Do any of you have any experience with pocket trumpets? Do they have decent sound? And just how big are they really...can they fit in your pocket? I am contemplating buying one for my backpackng trip. Sort of how people travel with a harmonica. Are they worth the money? Thanks for any info.

I play Pocket Trumpet for Marching Band and Jazz Band.
They are, at most, 6 inches long with about a 3 inch bell.
The tone Quality is just a tade below that of a regular Trumpet, but nothing Major.
You would have to have it out of the case and put it in a cargo pocket or something of that sort.
The hardest thing about the Pocket Trumpet is figuring out how to hold it, after that, you can play it like a regular Trumpet.
Hope this is useful (:

I have one of those Chinese made pocket trumpets that I bought for 80 bucks and in my opinion, it would be just fine for a backpack trip. No pocket trumpet produces the kind of sound required for serious playing but for fun, or to keep your chops up on a trip, it`ll do.
