Hey all, I was browsing this forum for a while today and decided to post.

I`m a senior in high school and am the lead in my school`s three bands, although I`m sure you expect that, considering this is a trumpet forum. I`m fairly serious about my trumpet playing. While I do not plan on majoring in music in college, I do plan on continuing to play in college and beyond. Right now I have a silver Bach that I`ve had since I`ve been in 5th grade. It`s a decent horn, but I`m really trying to work on my range. I can hit high G`s (the ones an octave above the G on the 5th bar line) but not consistently or with much quality of tone. I am also working on improving my tone quality and feel that I have made great strides in the past year and a half or so. Now I know that pratice is the true key to getting better and improving. However, I have also recently started reading more online about different more advanced trumpets, and have found many comments about more advanced trumpets facilitating higher notes and more wholesome tone (sorry if I`m using the wrong adjectives - read this as "better tone").

I`m contemplating getting a new trumpet. I`m open to a price range up to $2,500 with the sweet spot being $1,800-2,100 or so. Cheaper would be even better of course :D. I`ve read a lot about Zeus being better than the Bach Strads, which I hear are more attaining a more mass-produced quality.

Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your expertise and assistance.
