You will have a hard time finding a decent trumpet at that price. What you will come across are the cheap Chinese made trumpets aften times found at Wal Mart, Costco and shops like that. If you only need a trumpet for Jazz Band can your band director let you borrow one of the schools? I would not suggest buying a $145 trumpet

Thanks, I found a Barrington Bb from music123.com, it a had good reviews and was in my price range at $197 for one not in the orginal packaging. I asked my director but being that we are a small school we did not have any trumpets.

Rent one from a music store. You can rent a very decent trumpet for about $20 dollars a month. You can afford that right?

I agree with renting. No offense but $145 isn't going to buy a decent horn.

However, in the near-future, I may be considering selling a used (but great condition) trumpet for about $400-$500.

If you (or anyone for that matter) are interested, e-mail me at uhhhno@msn.com

I'll echo the advice against buying a trumpet for $145, especially if it's "new". You might search some pawn shops for something within your budget, but stay with well known brands (Bach, Blessing, Conn, King) when buying used. Unless you stumble onto a steal you won't likely find a new trumpet good enough to do jazz for less than $600.
