I am 28 and just started learning the trumpet. I am also learning the cello (I've played the guitar since I was 12). My question is this: Am I too old to become "good" at the trumpet? I only ask because eventually I would like to focus on one instrument (preferably the trumpet), but if I am at a great disadvantage I would rather choose something with a more promising future.

Honestly said, you are at a HUGE disadvantage, but don't let that discourage you. You stated that you've played a musical instrument before, so your obstacle will only be mastering the trumpet, not the basic fundamentals of musicianship. Personally, I recommend enrolling in private lessons immediately and finding or starting an ensemble that you can perform in "just for fun" while you are learning the basics. Let me also say that you SHOULD choose the trumpet as your one instrument to focus on because it is very versatile. You can easily perform music ranging from jazz to classical and pretty much anywhere inbetween. I hope this advice is beneficial to you. Please e-mail me if you have any further questions.
