hey!
im a trumpet player and have been for 7 years, but remember what it was like to start.
when you are doing the "rasberry" into the mouthpiece, try to relax you lips. if you keep the same shape, but stay relaxed and not tense, and with o[en valves should get you the lower register. air is also vital, (youll know that from the sax) so make sure you fill the instrument right up. to get higher, slowly tighten the lips and blow faster air. do not try and push the mouthpeice onto your lips though, this can do serious damage.
if you find this useful, or want to know anything else, just re-post and ill see how i can help

Thanks, that really helped. I can now get from middle c to the b above it (almost a full scale!) But i can not get that stupid higher c for the life of me. no matter how tight i form my lips, i can't make the 'open' note go any higher than the g. Could you please give me some help with that? Thanks!

unfortunatly, there is no quick fix. apart from having the right lip shape and blowing lots more air through the instrument (go somewhere you cant be heared, it my be abit noisy!!)practise makes perfect! sonds like you are well on your way. well done!!lol
if you hae any other queries, give us a hoi
