On June 2nd Ovation Arts (local theater group) will be sponsoring a Maynard Ferguson Tribute in Madison Alabama in the Bob Jones High School auditorium. I have been planning this show with Michael Manthey helping me out a lot. The trumpet section includes Michael Manthey, Bob Odneal, and Alan Wise. Scooter is hopefully going to be here, but he can't confirm that until he knows for sure if he has a show on that date. Steve Reid is another one that we're trying to get. Reggie Watkins will be in the trombone section as will Billy Bargetzi (slidemasterb.com) We are also working on getting Chip Crotts (director of jazz at JSU). Kris Jensen will be in the sax section and hopefully Christian Jacob will be here to play piano. The band will play 2 sets of music and the finale (surprise) is going to be killer. you're 4 hours away... actually it's more like 3 and a little bit. It's to the north of you just past Huntsville. I hope you can make it... If you're at the college, let me know and I may be able to hook you up with a ride if you need it.
