Hello,
I have always LOVED how a trumpet sounds when it has a good tone, but is playing softly....But I have alot of trouble doing this.
I play with an ok tone, but when I get softer, my air has to get lower so that I can play softer, but with my decreased air then I cannot play the notes clearly.
I belive that my method of dynamic changing is wrong, so could one of you tell me how to properly change dynamics? Or is it just a matter of practice?
Thank you,
Valvefire

Keep the same moving air, just less of it.
Airspeed doesnt change, jsut make a little less come through the aperture.
Think of a candle. Imagine what it takes to bend the flame.
When you want louder, imagine the candle further away. For lower volume, think of teh candle as being closer.
Go get a candle and try it, you'll see what i mean.
