yeah...i want to learn taps for fun...i cant get off the scales though...ive been playin for three years but my teacher wont let me have a higher chair..im in 5th out of 6 so i dont practice high notes and i need help..but thanks for the music...

the most common key for a bugle starts on a d in Bb trumpeters language so from personal experience it sounds alot more mellow and "bugley" if you will if you start on a d and play everything with 1+3

Taps is originally written for bugle, which is a different key instrument than trumpet. So on the trumpet the equivilent sound would be all notes played with the first and second vaulves pressed down, starting on an e.

I saw how a USMC band was playing the taps.

the soldier was playing taps on a trumpet not on a bugle and he WAS NOT PRESSING ANY VALVES AT ALL.

THAT MEANS HE PLAYED THEM ALL ON "C,G,E"
