Well... i'm getting a new horn, but my parent don't know what to buy... they won't go for any higher than $2000, but i want a good trumpet. Professional grade too. Any suggestions? (i've heard of the Yamaha Xeno, Bach Stradivarius( duh), C.G. Conn, Benge, MONETTE (researched ... quite pricey, but can i find a cheap one anywhere?), Shilke, Cannonball, THEIN (?... heard its pretty good), Besson, King, and Severinson. Please help tell me whats good. Want good tone.

Well, $2000 is basically about what you're going to be spending if you're looking for a professional grade horn. All the brands you mentioned are up there (Bach, Yamaha, Benge, etc.) at this point it's all about just going to a music store and seeing what fits you best. Don't even go by brand. Just try out every horn you can and see what feels best and what sounds the best to you. If you're getting a pro grade horn, just make sure you're happy with it. Good Luck!

Ok ... ty, but I got a crappy 7c mouthpiece, and I've heard that a instrument is only as good as the mouthpiece. Is that so?

The instrument is only as good as the player. The mouthpiece is basically fine tuning your sound. Don't let the mouthpiece alter your judgement on the horn you're looking at. Obviously when you're at the store you can go crazy and try out whichever mouthpiece you want with whichever trumpet you want, but I wouldn't let a mouthpiece be the deciding point of your future horn. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, shoot me an email at mwlahana@yahoo.com.

I suggest trying as many trumpets as you can. I just got myself a 30 year old bach strad off ebay for a really good price, it was way under 2,000. I am very happy with my purchase but I wished I would have looked at more horns. I wouldn't recomened buying a brand new strad, they new ones I tryed were not very good at all. If you want a strad go for 15 years or older. Yamaha Xeno are also great, so is the yamaha 6335. I also tryed a Conn vintage one that I liked a lot. With $2,000 you have a lot of horns to choose from. Just try a lot of horns and buy the one YOU like best.
