i need a case that is going to fit in my school locker and that can hold at least two mutes and music. the GIG trumpet backpack style bag looks good to me. does anyone have one of these? do they work good?

personally i think it's a dent in the bell waiting to happen, if you buy a GIG bag- but's that's just my opinion. some people love them!

I would stay away from the gig bag. They don't have the structural support that I'm sure you want to offer your trumpet. Check out the Mike Vax case (although I'm not sure what size your school lockers are)

Dear sirs, a couple of notes before you write off GIG product.
Our stitched bags are unique in their design with a hard board in the base and 40mm foam padding for the bell. This acts as a suspension system and protects the bell better than a hard wood shell case! The bag stands up on it's own when placed on the ground. If it falls over, it does not have far to go and the padding of the bag protects.
If you hold this bag with arm down by your side and drop, the bell will be fine. Try that in another case or bag!
With back pack straps and carry pockets for accessories, these bags are great for student use.
If you would like ultra protection, we have the moulded range made from EVA foam. These have a moulded lightweight shell with all the attributes of a GIG bag. You have back pack straps and pockets etc, but the inside has mould contoured to the instument.
The inner liner is lycra and gives a soft smooth finish. There is styrofoam in the sandwich construction which makes the case very light and tough.
I am confident you can throw this down the stairs with your horn inside and all will be well. Your case will be useable again afterwards also.
Hard shell case would be smashed and your horn shunted to the front of the case with bent bell.
I designed these and it all came from my repair experience of what gets damaged, where and how. Please take another look. Tom www.gig-bags.com
