Hello, I am just starting to play trumpet, and I have a question about with instrument I should buy.

My friend's mom is a collector, and she is willing to sell me an Olds Ambassador 50's-60's(date escapes me), or an Ardsley, but im not sure which Ardsley.

If you can just help me decide between the two, and for how much i should buy it for that'd be great thanks. -noob123

have you have a private teacher?

ask a trumpet player who knows what theyre talking about to try both for you and pick the one that plays the best.

Well yes, thats what I was going to do, but I have no Idea how much they are worth. How much do you think an Olds Ambassador is worth, in good condition?

People nowadays are so worried about what "brand" of instrument they should purchase. Well, brand is loaded. Lets see...if you want a beginner horn, there's really no choice better than the other...and you really can't try out a trumpet considering you're a starter and you don't know what to look for. So, find one that looks nice, not to expensive, and make sure you can make a sound on it. Until you are able to make a trumpet SOUND LIKE A TRUMPET you don't really need to worry about what trumpet, or what kind of trumpet you're getting. When you go to move onto a professional horn, try out serveral different horns from several different brands (maybe a few from each brand) and you can see what YOU like most. People have different likes and dislikes when it comes to equipment. So, take my advice and go with it. Take it easy kiddo.

Wow thats deep and true. Thanks for the advice. I've heard my friend whos played for 6 years on both, and I think I will buy the Ardsley. They both sound the same, and the Ardsley is lighter, so yeah.-Noob123
