I agree with the fact of not having to brag. If you're good, people can tell. If you're not, they can tell that too. However, in terms of the instrument itself, trumpet blows everything else out of the water. Except maybe sax, those are alright too.

Wow, some trumpet players sound stuck up. A lot. Most trumpet players probably aren't that way, but the ones that brag...are too busy bragging to be any good at the instrument.

What do you mean some are arogant. I mean come on. On a scale from 1-10 1 the lowest 10 the highest Trumpets are 8's,i'll give em that drummers are 10's. I mean in middle school you suck for the most part. Then you get to high school were you have some talent and *SHZOOM* Trumpet arogance skyrockets, drummers were born arogant. It also depends on you intsrument. High Brass are more arogant than say Low Brass.But I was okay at trumpet before I switched to Euphonium so im still a little arogent

Lol yeah you're right about that, the tuba sure hasn't been around very long.

flutes and clarinets are beautiful and everything but trumpets are powerful and regal. there's something so entrancing about classical trumpet that you just dont get with other instruments. and the brass sound in marching band...mmm... i eat it up. love it. not so much a fan of certain harsh jazz tones, though. also, sure it is evident in other instruments that different players of that same instrument sound different, but the possibilities seem so much more endless with the trumpet.

really though...the trumpet is such a beautiful and versatile instrument. definately wish i could play it beyond the skill level of a 6th grader haha.

As for the whole arragonce thing, I believe in the whole "shut up and play" attitude. Although I must admit, trumpets can blow any other instrument out of the water. Wether you should or not is personal preference.

Well my school started last year in the 7th grade and I may not know much but alot of kids and my band director said that I was one of the best in our school. and I stand on the side that trumpets can over power any instrument and they usely get the melody which is really fun. also we are fun loving people and very humorous!

You do realize, this is why most band geeks who dont' play trumpet hate trumpet players.

As a bassoon player, i really hate that trumpet players think that they don't have to worry about balance, so they just blast away, and then they are all egotistical because they can do that. Plus your really full of it, because honestly, any woodwind owns trumpet 200x over.

My gosh poeple! Stop with the steriotypical trumpet player things! I believe that type of attitude is shoved apon us, it is needed on the feild and while marching to give us the boost we need to play loud, but during concert season we can be just as soft as a flute. It's not the instrument but the person behind it. Don't be a trumpet player, be a musician. Anyone can be a trumpet player if they pick up a trumpet and blow, not as many can be musicians. It's all about balance and tone, clarity and persicion, not who can play the loudest. Strive to play beautiful music, not the loudest over-blown notes that you can force out of your bell. Personally I think this is a stupid and immature post.

I have been playing the trumpet for almost five years, but instead of a trumpet player, I try to be a musician. Trumpet can be beautiful or totally hidious, it's your desicion.
