I'm in middle school and I've played a high F above high C, but I only have high C# consistantly, and almost high D above the bar line consistantly.

I can play a double c any day of the week, loud.

i can play a loud in tune double a at the end of a 9 hour drum corps rehearsal.

dont let anyone say different, high notes are not only cool, but necessary, being that they are routinely written in jazz charts on lead parts, and sometimes others. i have played musicals where there are double f sharps all over the page for about 2 hours of playing.

okay,
Now that some of you have all had your fun.
For those of you playing high C, D, and E. Congats !!
That's the 8th, 9th, and 10th harmonic partials of your instrument.

I am playing the in the 24th harmonic partials and above.

Enjoy your day.

Curtis, curtis, curtis,

I am not bragging.
True many horn players talk about how close the partials are and this is because we are playing higher in the harmonic series than most other brasses, which is why we can't last as long - we are playing higher longer.

So, I am not commenting to bragg but rather support those who are succeding in their good quality high range and put the ease back on those who ARE bragging. If I was bragging I would tell you I can play up to the 32nd partial, but I want to be humble here.

By the way, how's boreding school going? Do you guys get a spring break?

Curtis,
A cruise ship gig?
That will be fun. Lots of shows. I know there are rules about socializing with the guests but still there will be some guests that will do whatever to go around the rules and take care of you first class.

Do it now while you are young. It's more experience (not that you need it). I'd love to do it but being older it's just not conducive to my present lifestyle.

I didn't think KEn would , but if he does, that's great.

I think I will dig my trumpet out of the garage and see how high I can play on the trumpet.

On a good day, i can get lucky and pop out a double E. Consistently, I range from high G to Double C. My goal by this fall? Triple B and consistently holding the double E.

<Added>

I was wrong, my tuner told me that, but it wasn't in 440Hz. I have no idea what I can hit, but its high as crap.

I can play a double B, but consistently I can play High Eb or E above the staff, and on good days a high F.
