Hi, I`m twelve years old and play trumpet. Well, I can double tounge pretty well. I have a pretty clear sound. I can play a double E. I guess that`s what it is. The E above the staff. Anyway, Do you think it would hurt my trumpet playing if I learned how to play sax.

I think it`s completely different. And two such different wind instruments could be hard. Why don`t you try horn or something else? But if you star playing sax you should also play trumpet. Because if you stop it your mouth isn`t comfortable with the trumpet mouthpiece anymore

I don`t see why you can`t play both. I`m not the voice of experience or anything but if you keep practising both of them regularly then I think you`ll be fine. The last poster was right when they said that the two instruments will be very different but it`s nice to have a bit of variety.

I think sticking with one instrument is best personally but there is nothing wrong with playing the sax. I have had a lot of fun with it and it doesn`t hurt my trumpet playing
