Somebody please E-mail me a copy of the score of Tank. I`ve been looking for it forever. There was someone who said they have the score but not the individual parts; if you E-mail that to me, I think I could transpose it for you. Also, the link that was given does not work: when I pasted that onto my address bar, Internet explorer just said: The page cannot be found. If someone out there could please E-mail tank to me, it would make my life a lot easier. (or you can give me the midi file)

Whoever said Maynard Ferguson is a good trumpet player to listen to, i disagree. Maynard may have been a great player when he was younger, but the years have taken tolls. I think the original purpose of music is to entertain, and Maynard certainly does that. But he isn`t a model for correct playing. He uses a jet-tone mouthpiece, and you`ll notice that it`s "equipped" for high register playing, his tone quality really suffers in the middle to lower register. A lot of recording have been edited too, if anyone`s heard him live lately, he has big intonation problems. And in Kansas city, when Charlie Parker and Lester Young were reigning monarchs, the whole idea of and improvised solo was to express ideas without having to repeat them. Maynard, on the other hand, plays a high note and trills it down to human range. In short, he`s entertaining, but he`s turning into the Kenny G of trumpet, he`s a great guy, really nice and loving, but if you try and learn technique or style from him, you`re in for a painfully short career.

The only thing entertaining about Maynaurd now is the light show that he puts on with his show. And an awesome trumpet player Carl Fisher who he has playing in his group now.

yup, well, like the rest of them, I am looking for Tank! heh heh. Our Jazz Band is pretty good, and I figure with the right tune (and I know this is one brilliant piece) it could boost the morale and get us motivated, not to mention own at the state band competition next year. This year we got owned, really bad. As for trumpet playing, practice is indeed the key, and rest is also a good thing. Before I had braces (which to say the least, really suck) I was able to just attack a piece of music. I was originally working on Hydn`s Concerato, take note that it was in 8th grade, and then when I got my braces on, I found it hard to practice and concentrate. None the less, I am still able to play the double c, but without all that practice I had originally had, its quite strenuous after a while. Right now, I am a sophomore, 15, and planning on getting my braces off soon, and then look out range and clearity, Chris is coming to town. Touching story, isn`t it? Anyways, I am a fairly descent trumpet player, so I can answer some things, unless its finger positions for notes and octive about a Double C -_- Also, its nice to have the arbans, very nice book to work from. (my opinion on great trumpet player is Allen Vizzutti, combining high notes, with tone quality, and amazing precision.)

I am going into 9th grade and just switched to bass clarinet from Bb clarinet. In scouts I have been asked to be the bugler. I got a cornet and started practicing with a few lessons. The highest I can get to is the G in the space right above the staff. To complicate things even more, I have braces Any SUPER SUPER beginner tips? I`ve only been playing about a month

Yeah I have problems with high notes as well. I just started playing trumpet this year (I switched from trombone) and I`m already at highschool level. I have probs with high notes, i especially if its like a quater or an 8th note...something short. If it`s a long note then i can play it. Weird. BTW where can I find some free Tank sheet music. I`ve been looking all over the place.
